We’re open!

Here’s how we can help and what we’re doing to keep us all as safe as possible.

All four of our practitioners will be back to full hours by the first of July. Read below about the measures we’re taking to help keep you safe! But if you can’t come in, consider a teleheath appointment. Via phone or secure, private video chat, we can discuss your health concern and develop an at-home treatment plan. So far, this approach has been very effective! Schedule at praxis.fullslate.com.

The safety of our staff and clients is extremely important to us. We are following all CDC, state, City of Chicago, and professional association guidelines. Here’s a list of the measures we’re taking to keep us all safe when you come for your appointments:

  • We ask that all clients:
    • Wear a mask.
    • Wash your hands when you enter the office.
    • Allow us to take your temperature (with a non-contact infrared thermometer) when you arrive.
    • Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early so that you do not come in contact with the previous client.
    • Forgive us if we have to shoo you out the door so that we can clean before the next person comes! We love chatting with our clients, and we have given ourselves ample time between sessions to clean, but we might not be able to linger for very long after your treatment concludes.
    • Cancel if you feel sick. (No cancelation fee.)
  • All practitioners will:
    • Wear a mask.
    • Wash our hands before your treatment.
    • Take our temperatures before we begin our workday.
    • Cancel if we feel sick.
  • In the space we will:
    • Sanitize all door knobs, the water cooler, other high-touch surfaces, the waiting area and the bathroom before each and every client.
    • Sanitize the treatment tables and surfaces in the treatment rooms before each client.
    • Minimize your exposure to others by spacing out appointments.
      • The most we’ll ever have in the office at one time is one massage therapist + Dr. Willetts, and one client each per practitioner.
      • We can easily social distance, so you will not need to share space with anyone except your practitioner.
      • By creating more space between appointments, you will not be spending any time in the waiting area with anyone else.
  • Other ways we can help:
    • If you’d prefer, your practitioner can wear gloves during your treatment.
    • What else? Let us know! What more can we do to help you feel safe here at Praxis? Email us with your comments, questions or concerns at info at praxischicago.com

We hope you’re all doing okay during these unprecedented times. Take care of yourselves! We miss you and hope to see you again soon.

Click the link above to visit our online store, where you can purchase services in advance and donate to Praxis’ operating costs and employees. Our massage therapists have lost all of their income since mid March. Mine has been reduced by about 80%. We know you have a lot of good causes to support during this crisis. Thank you for helping us keep Praxis going.

COVID UPDATES

Hello! All of us at Praxis miss you and hope you’re staying safe and sane right now.

A few quick updates, with more to come soon:

  • Our fabulous massage therapists are all staying home the next few weeks. We know you miss them, and we’ll send out an announcement when we know for sure what their return date will be.
  • ONLINE APPOINTMENTS WITH ME ARE NOW AVAILABLE! We can talk on the phone or use a dedicated healthcare video chat service to discuss: ergonomics while working from home, a therapeutic home exercise program, self care tools to help you manage pain and stress, and much more. (Please book online, the same as you would an in-person visit, and select from one of the new online service options.)
  • I am also coming into the office for chiropractic and acupuncture treatment for those in need, but have limited availability right now. I’ll be in on Wednesday this week, and as of right now, I’m planning on one or two days next week, depending on need.
  • Additional precautions I’m taking to keep as all safe include: spacing out appointments so that patients don’t have to cross paths in the waiting room; sanitizing the door knobs, bathroom, waiting room and my office before and after every patient; taking everyone’s temp at the start of the appointment; and wearing a mask during your treatment.
  • And COMING SOON–functional medicine approaches to STRESS and IMMUNE HEALTH!
On a personal note, some of you know we found out our dog had cancer just as the virus hit the U.S. Kopi had surgery March 18th. They got all of the tumor, and it is unlikely to spread. Great news! Since then, though, there have been several rounds of post-surgical complications. But (fingers crossed), the last intervention seems to be doing the trick, and she appears to have turned a corner in the last 2 days. So, we’re optimistic that she will fully recover. This is day 20 of wearing her cone, and she just accepts this “new normal” and goes about her business. She’s my resilience and adaptability guru!
I hope all of you are healthy and finding some successes as you also try to adapt to whatever this new reality is for you.

5 Pillars of Health #1 – Stress Management

Happy March! In like a lion, right?

I’ll be posting links here and on our Facebook page each month through July about strategies for you to improve the modifiable lifestyle factors that are the 5 pillars of your health. These are 5 aspects of the way you live your life that extensive research has show to have a profound impact on your health. They are: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and relationships/meaning/purpose (we’ll leave the final category, which is perhaps the most complicated for last). In which of these areas are you doing well already? Which areas need the most help? These are things you can improve, so I hope you’ll find this series empowering. First up for the month of March — Stress Management! Check out our Facebook page and check back in regularly as I add new posts throughout the month. https://www.facebook.com/praxischiro/
